Where did 2022 go?

Steve Macmillan

As 2022 comes to a close our December newsletter is a brief recap of the last 12 months. Having migrated the vast majority of our customers to the Essentials and Premium versions of IT Policy Management as a Service we received a lot of positive feedback, especially on the new functionality to help drive and increase user engagement with the policy content.

What got customers excited?
  • Online policy acceptance – an efficient way for users to review and accept policies. New API options allow for the acceptance data to be used in third party applications, and if required limit access to systems and information until an acceptance has been completed.
  • Improved access for third party service providers and contractors so they can view and accept policies.
  • Option to provide a prospective employee with advanced access to policies - a new starter can view and accept policies before day one on the job.

Standards also changed

In terms of the international standards and best practice guidance, our team were kept on their toes from the start of the year. New updated CE+ guidance was released in January and then from mid-year they commenced the work to introduce the new 2022 version of ISO27002. As of November the new ISO mapping is available to all customers.

We covered the details of those ISO changes in 3 newsletters during 2022 -

August - ISO 27002: All you need to know about the 2022 update

September - 11 New controls introduced in the ISO 27002 2022

November - Adapting policies to reflect the new guidance in ISO27002:2022

To 2023

The year ahead for PPS is looking busy. Our IT Policy Management as a Service roadmap will see us delivering two new sets of enhancement upgrades, details of the first release will be available on or before February 1st.

For early 2023 we are going to be introducing a new mapping for PCI DSS version 4.0 and are expecting some small changes to be released for CE+.
